Tom Oszman has worked in journalism and media production since he was old enough to press a power button. As a writer and filmmaker his work has been seen on PBS, and featured in several publications including the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Star Tribune, MinnPost, and Mpls/St. Paul Magazine.
Since 2009, he has been the curator of TCMediaNow a time portal of Twin Cities film and video of the past. TCMediaNow started as a simple YouTube channel with local news and commercials, to much surprise the links started generating thousands of views. Having the fortune (or misfortune!) of one of the first commercial VCR’s Tom taped hundreds of hours of footage throughout childhood and young adulthood. The content provided TCMediaNow’s early years.
As the world moved to the digital age TCMediaNow incorporated as a non-profit and set to preserve analog film, audio, and video before they were destroyed forever.
Today TCMediaNow digitizes hundreds of hours of video a week for public viewing, organizations, personal stories and more. TCMediaNow’s mission is to provide preservation and access to thousands of hours of otherwise forgotten film and video footage of our area.
Tom also hosted a popular afternoon show on KLBB-AM for several years in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area interviewing local newsmakers and journalists of the past and present.
Tom is also a proud board member of the Pavek Museum of Broadcasting, where occasionally he bumps into good friends including Louie Anderson and is frequently heard on the KQRS-FM Morning Show, and WCCO-AM.
When not sifting through boxes of dusty tapes, Tom enjoys photography and world travel, having been to 48 states and four continents, with more to go.
